The seeds are used and have benefits similar to those of avocado seed or sunflower oil. They are typically consumed by crushing one to two of them in a cup of water and boiling them for 5-10 minutes.

Semilla de zopilote is a seed from trees usually found on the Pacific Coast, Central America and certain parts of South America. The trees can grow up to 15-25 meters tall. The zopilote tree produces the best fruit—from where the seeds are harvested—when it is around 15-years-old

Generally Prepared:

Semilla De Zopilote is generally prepared as a tea.  One to two tablespoons of Semilla De Zopilote is added to 8-10 ounces of tea.  This is simmered covered for 15-20 minutes. The seed is also taken orally after breaking the seed up and putting it under the tongue. 

Usually Prepared With:

Semilla De Zopilote is combined with other herbs and spices such as Bitter Melon and Cinnamon.
