Maca Root can be identified by it's little bundle leaves grown close to the soil. Once you pull the Maca plant you'll discover a matte-like root called the hypocotyl. The hypocotyl can vary in color from red, purple, creamy yellow, or black. The hypocotyl has a similar look to the turnip or parsnips.
